Ariana Wimsett: Crochet Designer, Author, and Pattern Curator (About Me Page)

Hi there! I’m Ariana, and I am so glad you found your way to The Yarn Crew!

Skipping the search, casting straight on

If you have ever spent an entire evening scrolling through social media or search engines looking for your next knitting project, only to end up with twenty open browser tabs, a headache, and zero stitches made, I created this site specifically for you.

As a passionate fiber artist, I spend a huge amount of my time designing crochet patterns and researching topics and trends.

Here at The Yarn Crew, my favorite role is being your personal knitting pattern scout. I dedicated this platform to hunting down, organizing, and showcasing the most incredible knitting designs from talented makers around the world.

Your creative time is incredibly valuable. You shouldn’t have to waste it filtering through dead ends, broken links, or poorly written AI gnerated patterns.

Why trust my curated lists?

I don’t just compile random lists of images. My curation process comes backed by my everyday life as a hands-on crochet designer and the experience of writing two published pattern books.

Because of that background, I look at every project layout with a trained designer’s eye. I can instantly evaluate the structure, drape, and quality of a project just by looking at the details.

I want to take the guesswork out of your next project so you can pick up your hook with absolute confidence.

While it is impossible to read through every single line of text before featuring a project, I follow a strict quality checklist to ensure a great making experience:

  • Designer reputation: I know the fiber arts community inside and out, making sure to feature creators known for clear, accurate grading.
  • Visual clarity: I closely examine the project photography to ensure the item is structurally sound, beautifully finished, and accurately pictured.
  • Community feedback: I look through community notes and reviews to verify that other everyday crafters found the instructions easy to follow and frustration-free.
  • No AI-generated content : In today’s digital landscape, the internet is flooded with low-effort, AI-generated content and mass-produced listicles. I take a firm stand against that approach. When evaluating a design to feature, I closely review the project images, the written descriptions, and the designer’s overall track record to ensure the pattern is authentic, physically possible to make, and crafted by a real person.

Empowering knitting designers

One of the things I love most about running this site is lifting up other creators.

The fiber community is packed with brilliant minds who deserve a massive audience, and I love using my platform to give them the spotlight.

When you use my curated knitting roundups, you are supporting a system built on total honesty and respect:

  • Each designer is credited: Original designers are always explicitly named and celebrated right alongside their work.
  • Direct link to the designer: I absolutely despise being forced to click through multiple confusing pages just to find a pattern source. Every link on this site takes you directly to the designer’s target page.
  • Boosting small businesses: By sending you straight to their blogs, Etsy shops, or Ravelry stores, we are funneling thousands of eager makers directly to independent businesses to help them thrive.

A note to our featured designers

If your work is showcased in our collections, please know that it is a direct reflection of my admiration for your talent!

Being featured here is a fantastic way to boost your brand’s visibility and welcome thousands of highly targeted making fans directly to your blog or shop.

However, your complete control over your work is what matters most. If your pattern is included here and you would prefer to have the link removed for any reason at all, please simply send a quick message to ariana@theknitcrew.com and I will gladly take it down immediately.

A little bit about me

My professional background actually started out on major cruise ships, where running massive operations required extreme organization, logic, and attention to detail.

There is where I developed the love for travelling, compact living and structure.

Today, I bring that exact same structured mindset to the fiber arts world, sorting through hundreds of kniting patterns to organize them into clean, stress-free lists for you.

When I’m not scouting out beautiful designs, you can find me relaxing in my creative workspace by the sea or spending time out in the garden with my laptop.

During the gray UK winter months, I love to pack up my yarn stash and travel to sunny destinations to gather fresh inspiration and discover new creative styles from around the world.

Thank you so much for being a part of this community. Grab your yarn, pick out your next favorite knitting pattern from our lists, and let’s make something incredible!

Happy Knitting!
